課程概述 Course Description

「跨文化設計:社群、場域與幸福感」為兩學分跨國密集工作坊,匯聚來自不同文化背景與學科領域的學生,共同探索設計、社群、場域與幸福感之間的交會。課程透過田野踏查、專題講座與跨文化對話,引導學生思考設計如何回應多元社群的價值觀、需求與挑戰。學生以混合國際小組形式,深入觀察真實的城鄉環境,發展跨文化洞察,並以簡報與簡易原型呈現學習成果。課程強調主動學習、跨文化溝通,以及以設計思考回應當代永續與社群議題的實踐能力。課程以全英文進行,修課學生需自付3,500課程移地學習材料費。

Design Across Cultures: Community, Place, and Wellbeing is an intensive two-credit studio course that brings together students from different cultural and disciplinary backgrounds to explore the intersections of design, community, place, and wellbeing. Through field visits, expert lectures, and cross-cultural dialogue, students examine how design responds to the values, needs, and challenges of diverse communities. Working in mixed international teams, participants develop cultural observations, engage with real urban and rural contexts, and present their reflections through short presentations and simple prototypes. The course emphasizes active learning, cross-cultural communication, and design thinking as tools for addressing contemporary questions around sustainability and community wellbeing. The course will be conducted in English and the students need to prepare NTD$ 3,500 for course materials.

 

教學目標 Course Objectives

  1. Cross-cultural understanding / 跨文化理解 Develop sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to engage respectfully across diverse social and design contexts. 培養對文化差異的敏銳度,以及在多元社會與設計情境中跨文化溝通與互動的能力。
  2. Design observation & inquiry / 設計觀察與田野探究 Apply design thinking methods to observe, document, and interpret real-world community and place-based phenomena. 運用設計思考方法,觀察、記錄並詮釋真實社群與場域中的現象與議題。
  3. Community & wellbeing awareness / 社群與幸福感意識 Understand how design shapes and is shaped by community values, local identity, and sustainability. 理解設計如何與社群價值、在地認同及永續發展相互影響。
  4. Collaborative making / 跨國協作與原型製作 Work effectively in international, interdisciplinary teams to co-create design responses and simple prototypes. 在跨國、跨領域小組中有效協作,共同發展設計回應與簡易原型。
  5. Reflective communication / 反思性溝通與表達 Articulate design observations and cross-cultural reflections through presentations and visual storytelling. 透過簡報與視覺敘事,清晰表達設計觀察與跨文化反思。

成績評量方式與標準 Grading and Assessment

  1. 通過/不通過 ( PASS / FAIL )
  2. 出席與參與 Attendance & Active Participation|30%
    •  全程參與課程活動,包含田野踏查、講座與工作坊。積極投入跨文化討論與小組互動。 Full attendance at all field visits, lectures, and workshop sessions. Active engagement in cross-cultural discussions and group activities.
  3. 個人表現 Individual Reflection & Presentation|30%
    • 跨文化經驗的個人反思(口頭或書面)Personal reflection on cross-cultural experience (oral or written)
    • 短片或視覺呈現(30秒至1分鐘)Short video or visual presentation (30 sec–1 min)
    • 課程期間的主動貢獻與學習態度 Initiative and learning attitude throughout the course
  4. 分組報告 Group Project & Final Presentation|40%
    • 田野觀察與洞察的整合呈現 Synthesis of field observations and cultural insights
    • 簡易原型或設計提案 Simple prototype or design proposal
    • 期末公開發表(8/29下午)Final public presentation (Aug 29, afternoon)

 

對學生課後學習之要求 Requirements for students to study after school

  • 課前準備 Pre-course Preparation

    • 閱讀指定文章或資料,了解課程主題背景(設計、永續、幸福感、在地文化)Complete assigned readings related to course themes (design, sustainability, wellbeing, local culture)
    • 準備個人簡短自我介紹(含文化背景分享)Prepare a brief personal introduction highlighting your cultural background
  • 每日課後記錄 Daily Reflection Log

    • 每天課後撰寫簡短反思筆記(建議200–300字或對等的視覺記錄)Maintain a daily reflection log after each session (approx. 200–300 words or equivalent visual documentation)
    • 記錄田野觀察、跨文化互動的心得與疑問 Document field observations, cross-cultural encounters, and emerging questions
  • 個人作業 Individual Assignment

    • 期末繳交個人書面反思一份 Submit a written personal reflection before the final presentation
  • 分組作業 Group Assignment

    • 與小組成員於課外時間協作,整合田野觀察與設計洞察 Collaborate with group members outside of class to synthesize field observations and design insights
    • 準備期末公開發表,包含簡易原型或設計提案 Prepare a final group presentation including a simple prototype or design proposal
